BREAKING: FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday For Eid ul Mawlid


The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.


Dafy World confirmed the announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.


The minister congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the diaspora, urging Nigerians to reflect on the values of compassion, humility and service associated with the occasion.


“Every Eid ul Mawlid gives us reason to pause and draw lessons from a life defined by compassion, humility and service to others,” Tunji-Ojo said.


He encouraged Nigerians to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, unity and stability in the country.


The minister also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and show mutual respect, while wishing the Muslim community a peaceful and joyous Eid ul Mawlid.


He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace across the country.
