A Nigerian student nurse, Ifeyinwa, popularly known on TikTok as @Ifeyinwapov, has advised members of the public to avoid giving water to road accident victims immediately after a crash, saying the well-intentioned act could do more harm than good.
In a video shared on her TikTok page, Ifeyinwa explained that while many people rush to offer water as an act of compassion, accident victims may have internal injuries or could require urgent medical attention that makes swallowing unsafe.

Medical experts generally advise that people with serious injuries should not be given food or drinks until they have been properly evaluated by healthcare professionals, as the nature of their injuries may not be immediately obvious.
While helping accident victims is encouraged, experts say knowing the correct first-aid response can make the difference between saving a life and unintentionally causing further harm.
