BREAKING: Peter Obi’s First Lady Claim Triggers Fresh Controversy Over Margaret Obi’s Role In Anambra

A fresh controversy has emerged online over former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s position on the Office of the First Lady, following a social media post by Abimbola Adetu Olamide, September 3.

Olamide questioned Obi’s reported claim that he shut down the First Lady’s office during his administration, pointing to videos and photographs of his wife, Margaret Obi, attending official functions while he was governor.

“Does Peter Obi not realise that people have video recordings of his wife attending official functions as the First Lady of Anambra State?” Olamide wrote.

She also questioned why the issue was being presented differently, ending her post with “Tufiakwa!”

The post included a widely circulated graphic quoting Obi as saying:

“I told my wife, ‘You’re unhappy I shut down 1st Lady office, nobody voted you, you’re just my wife.’”

The claim has reignited debate over Margaret Obi’s public role during her husband’s tenure and whether attending official state functions should be considered different from operating a formally established government office.
