Nigerian Man Jailed For Years Over Ræpe of Teenager In Wales After Previously Avoiding Deportation

A Nigerian citizen, Gift Oladele, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for ræping a teenage woman in Wrexham, Wales.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service and North Wales Police, Oladele, 24, was convicted of ræpe and assault by penetration following an attack on a 19-year-old woman on September 7, 2025.

The victim was walking home after a night out when Oladele accompanied her, claiming he was heading in the same direction. However, as they passed through an isolated area, he forced her into nearby woodland, where she was ræped.

Oladele denied the allegations and claimed the encounter was consensual, but a jury found him guilty at Mold Crown Court in March 2026.

He was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court on April 30 to an extended sentence of 25 years, comprising 17 years in prison and an additional eight years on extended licence.

He was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order to protect the victim.

In a recent interview with UK media, the woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, recalled the terrifying attack and said she feared she might not survive.

She reportedly told reporters that Oladele was physically bigger than her and overpowered her despite her attempts to fight him off.

According to the victim, she went into "survival mode" during the attack and kept thinking about getting home to her family.

She said she immediately told her parents what had happened after arriving home, prompting them to contact the police.

North Wales Police arrested Oladele the following day.

Wrexham Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst described Oladele as a "dangerous predator" and praised the victim for her courage in reporting the incident and supporting the investigation.

According to reports, Oladele had previously faced deportation from the United Kingdom but successfully challenged the decision on human rights grounds.

Oladele who was born in Italy and is a Nigerian citizen, entered the UK legally but later remained in the country after his immigration clearance expired.

He reportedly appealed against deportation under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects private and family life.

An immigration tribunal reportedly ruled that deportation would be disproportionate after considering his personal circumstances and his established private life in the UK.

The case has since sparked renewed discussion in the UK about the deportation of foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes.

A Home Office spokesperson described the case as horrific and said the government would continue efforts to deport foreign criminals at the earliest possible opportunity.

Dafy World reports that the conviction and sentencing of Oladele were confirmed by the Crown Prosecution Service and North Wales Police, while details concerning his previous deportation appeal and the victim's recent interview have been reported by UK media.
