Ondo 11-Year-Old Twins, 5-Year-Old Sister Found De@d Near River On Father's Farm, Police Launch Investigation

Residents of Oke Ogba in Akure, Ondo State, have been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, whose bodies were discovered near a small river on their father's farm.

The victims were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

According to reports, the children accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks area on Friday, September 4, 2026. The children reportedly left the farm ahead of their father to return home.

However, when their father later returned home and could not find them, alarm was raised and family members, neighbours and other residents joined in a search for the children. 

The search ended in tragedy on Saturday, September 5, when the bodies of the three siblings were discovered around the bank of a small river within the farm.

The heartbreaking incident has left the Jonah family devastated, with relatives, friends, neighbours and sympathisers visiting the family's residence in the Oke Ogba area of Akure to offer condolences. 

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command said an investigation had commenced to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the command was documenting all available facts surrounding the tragedy. The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, has also ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, the Cable gathered

The bodies of the children have since been released to their father for burial, while the investigation continues.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the children's deaths has not been established.

The police urged parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over children, particularly around rivers, streams, ponds and other bodies of water.
