BREAKING: Sowore Returns To Oworonshoki Demolition Site, Promises 1 Million Public Homes Under #Sowore2027 Government

African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has returned to Oworonshoki in Lagos today, where families were displaced following the demolition of their homes  by the Lagos State Government.

Sowore shared details of the visit on Thursday, saying he met with residents whose homes were demolished and communities he described as having been “brutally displaced.”

According to the activist and politician, his return to the area was also a reminder of an earlier confrontation with security operatives during protests against the demolitions.

Sowore said police officers had previously used teargas against protesters and that he was later declared wanted after joining residents in opposing the demolitions.

“Today, we returned—not just to remember the injustice, but to make a commitment to a different future,” Sowore stated.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Sowore said that if his proposed government comes into power, it would begin the construction of one million public mixed-income homes across Nigeria.

The pledge is part of his broader #Sowore2027 campaign message, which focuses on housing, social welfare and what he describes as a different approach to governance.
