Truck crash in Nice,France leaves dozens feared dead
A truck bashed into a group of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France Thursday night.
The city’s mayor urged people to stay home in the wake of the crash. An eyewitness told the Associated Press there were “bodies everywhere” after the truck hit the crowd. Scores more are feared injured.
Wassim Bouhlel, a Nice native who spoke to the AP near Nice’s Promenade du Paillon, said that he saw a truck drive into the crowd and then witnessed the man emerge with a gun and start shooting.
“There was carnage on the road,” Bouhlel said. “Bodies everywhere.” with atleast 75 dead, and atleast 100 injured.
A French official described the crash as “an attack.”
