Libyan forces fire at Sniper Positions to recapture Sirte
Libyan forces have fired at sniper positions in their extensive campaign to recapture Sirte from Islamic State militants.
Forces loyal to Libya’s U.N.-backed government in Tripoli are three months into a campaign to oust the so-called Islamic State from their stronghold and have captured most of the coastal city.
Since August the 1st, their progress has been assisted by U.S.
airstrikes that have targeted the terrorists’ vehicles, weapons and
fighting positions.
ISIS took control of Sirte last year, turning it into a base for Libyan and foreign fighters and extending their control by about 250 km of Libya’s Mediterranean coastline.
