Nigeria set to grab first Rio Olympic medal
Nigeria may be in line for its first medal at the Rio Olympics after Blessing Okagbare made amends for her disappointing performance in the 100 and 200 metres, to anchor the 4 by 100 metres-relay team to the final on Thursday.
Nigeria with a season’s best of 42.55 seconds and running in lane-8 of the heat, grabbed one of the qualifying slots on offer.
With USA, Germany, Trinidad and Tobago and France in the heat, the Nigerian team was at its best to go through to the final.
Stiffer test awaits with USA, and Jamaica still in contention.
