Police hunt down men who help in organizing a gay marriage

The Nigeria Police are looking for two suspects, accused of organizing a gay marriage in the northern Nigerian city of Sokoto, according to police report.

Owner of the house where the alleged ceremony took place at the weekend has been arrested but the main suspects are still at large, the spokesman added.

Homosexuality is illegal in Nigeria. Nigerians involved in gay marriage or civil unions face imprisonment for up to 14 years under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill signed into law by former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.
