The Super Eagles of Nigeria stuns the world on Saturday as they trash the Desert Warriors of Algeria 3-1 in their 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Eagles’ technical adviser, Gernot Rohr started with a frontline that included in-form Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi of Arsenal, and Kelechi Iheanacho of Man-City.
Chelsea star, Victor Moses was booked for taking off his shirt in jubilation after a great strike in the 26th minute of the first half.
Shortly after, in the 40th minute, Nigeria got a second goal that deflated the Algerian team. Nigeria captain, Mikel Obi with a nice pass from Etebo and one-on-one with the goalkeeper after he had been clearly kept onside by Aissa Mandi, and he fired the Algerian goalkeeper amid a wave of protest from some Algeria players.
The Algerians had a penalty shout waved away in the 72 minute, and the referee only awarded a corner kick.
However, Moses has effectively sealed the victory as he stroked his second goal of the evening. Eagles with six points, now top with 4 points ahead Cameroon in World Cup qualification group B.
Second-placed Cameroon played a 1-1 draw against Zambia who have just 1 point, the same with Algeria.
