The former Governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori who was released last month from prison in the United Kingdom (UK) is back to Nigeria as he arrived in his home town Oghara, Delta State on Saturday.
Mr Ibori landed in Benin from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, following his arrival from the U.K. The Spokesman to Mr Ibori, Tony Eluemunor, has announced this, according to Channels Television.
Official said that he was picked up by some people and is expected to visit his hometown, Oghara in Delta State at about 11am, but the official could not confirm the identity of the people that picked Ibori up from the airport.
Mr Ibori was released from British Prison, U.K, December 21, 2016 after serving half of his 13-year sentence, faced another charge on the confiscation of his assets.
The judge, Mrs Juliet may had ordered his immediate release; a judgement Ibori’s spokesman described as a major victory against the British Home Office, at the Royal Court of Justice, Queens Court 1, London.
Counsels to the Home Office, however wanted him to remain in detention after he had served his jail term.
His case has been adjourned to March 17, 2017.
