Comptroller General of the Customs, Col Hammed Ali (rtd) appeared before the Senate in the earlier hours of today in mufti, while the Senate Committee insisted that Ali must appear in the Customs Service uniform upon his invitation.
Ali arrived in white caftan, and was led to the office of the Senate President the Senoir Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters(Senate), Senator Ita Enang, as the Senate is holding a indoor meeting with Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekeremadu who leads the gathering.
Sen B. Jibrin castigating Hameed Ali said, "CG needs to go 17.& apply the law of the land by wearing uniform before he addresses us, as stipulated in our constitution”.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekeremadu had queried the Comptroller General for not wearing his official uniform, and Ali claimed that the letter inviting him did not request that he should appear in uniform.
