Ogun State govt. raises alarm on heat stress, warned residents over combination of heat and humidity as rains approach

The Commissioner for Environment, Bolaji Oyeleye have raised alarm that residents of the state may likely be confronted with heat stress and other illnesses known as hyperthermia, as the rain season approaches.

Oyeleye made this known in Abeokuta while highlighting some of the environmental challenges that may confront the state in 2017.

"Nigeria Metrological Agency has listed Ogun State as one of the states that would experience heat stress due to combination of heat and humidity and warned residents to take precautions," Oyeleye said.

He noted that Ogun will experience extended rains which could lead to flooding and that the two major dams in the states would be let loose to allow easy flow of water.

He warned residents not to dump waste in the water ways and move away from the river banks to avoid calamity.
