Nigerian Chinedu Udoji, Kano Pillars defender is dead

Kano Pillars defender, Chinedu Udoji has on Sunday night died in a road accident. The 28-year-old veteran Nigerian Professional Football League player died in a fatal motor accident while he was returning to his lodge in Kano, February 18.


Kano Pillars spokesman, Idris Malikawa, who spoke with TheCable, said: “it is indeed a sad day for Nigerian football”.

“Udoji took his shower after the game and told me he was going to see his former teammates at the hotel,” Malikawa said.

“He had already seen his former team and it was on his way back to the Kano Pillars camp that he had the accident.

“We all are still in shock over his death. Can you imagine that he won the best man of the match in yesterday’s game?

“It is a sad day for me, the entire Kano Pillars team, fans, Nigeria Professional Football League and Nigerian football in general,” he said.

Chinedu Udoji played for Kano Pillars on Sunday evening, February 18, against his former club Enyimba at the Sanni Abacha Stadium, Kofarmata in Kano which ended 1-1.

The deceased joined Pillars last season after spending seven years with Enyimba. And another report that he had an offer from his former club, Enyimba but chooses to remain with the Kano side.
