President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has instructed the immediate payment of the February and March, 2020 withheld salaries of lecturers in federal universities on Tuesday.
Moreover, the salaries had been withheld because the lecturers had failed to register on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information platform.
However, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige said the President also directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning and the Accountant General of the Federation to urgently effect the payment .
This, he said, was to cushion the effects of COVID - 19 pandemic lockdown period on lecturers and members of their family.
