Despite the Federal Government directives for workers to resume at their various offices, the Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday said it would meet to review the situation in its offices across the country.
INEC National Commissioner and chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, stated this in a statement.
It read, “Resumption of normal activities in the commission”, issued after its meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, the meeting deliberated on a number of issues, including preparations for the conduct of governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states scheduled for September 19 and October 10 2020, respectively; the forthcoming bye elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Plateau States and plans for resumption of normal activities.
Okoye said, “The commission noted the advisory and protocols outlined by the PTF on combating COVID-19 on the gradual easing of lockdown from Monday, May 4 2020.
“The commission will meet on Thursday, May 7 2020 to review the situation in its offices across the country and adopt a clear road map and guidelines for resumption of activities in line with the announcement by the PTF . ”
