The baby boy who was recently kidnapped in Jozini in northern KwaZulu-Natal, has been reunited with his mother.
The police said on Thursday that the child was taken on August 10, from the Mamlambo bus station after an unknown woman offered to carry the child for the mother.
KZN police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said the baby was found with a 32-year-old woman in Emerlo in the Mpumalanga province.
Gwala said they received information yesterday about the baby boy’s whereabouts.
“It was reported that the suspect was at Ermelo in Mpumalanga province with the kidnapped baby. The Jozini and Ermelo Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit were immediately contacted and the information was shared with them,” she said.
Gwala added that the woman was arrested while at a clinic to obtain a vaccination card for the baby. “She was arrested by the Ermelo FCS Unit and the kidnapped baby was also found. The baby has been re-united with the mother,” she said, adding that the 32-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Ubombo Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
