Nigeria Decides: 2027 Presidential Race Takes Shape As Tinubu, Obi, Atiku, Jonathan, Others Emerge As Candidates (FULL LIST)
Nigeria's political landscape is gradually taking shape ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with several political parties already unveiling their candidates following primary elections and consensus arrangements.
While many parties successfully concluded their nomination processes, the exercise was not without controversy. In some cases, aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders raised concerns over the conduct and outcome of the primaries.
With the emergence of candidates, political parties are now expected to intensify nationwide consultations, coalition talks, and strategic preparations ahead of the official campaign season.
The presidential election is scheduled to hold on January 16, 2027.
According to reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed May 30 as the deadline for political parties to conclude their primaries and resolve all disputes arising from the nomination process.
The commission also warned that parties failing to comply with its timetable risk losing the opportunity to field candidates in the elections.

- Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) – Peter Obi
