Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been honoured with the traditional title of “Ugo Eze Anambra” during her visit to Anambra State.
The title was conferred on the First Lady on Thursday by traditional rulers representing the 179 communities in Anambra State, in recognition of her humanitarian work and support for women and vulnerable groups across Nigeria.
According to reports, the honour was presented by the traditional ruler of Obosi and Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka III.
The title, Ugo Eze Anambra, has been described as meaning “Royal Eagle of Anambra.”
Oluremi Tinubu received the honour during a working visit to Anambra State, where she participated in a number of official activities and engagements.
According to The Punch, the First Lady's visit included the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East, as well as other empowerment and development initiatives.
She also held engagements with Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, as part of ongoing collaboration between the Office of the First Lady and the Anambra State Government.
The recognition adds to the honours received by the First Lady for her public service and humanitarian initiatives, particularly programmes targeted at women, young people and vulnerable Nigerians.
The event brought together government officials, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Anambra State.
